ok, so i asked one of my friends if she new the capital of Iowa and her responce was "whats Iowa???" so i said "it's a state" and she didn't know that so i asked her if she could name the fifty states and she could only name 5-10 states and also she never heard of georgia, new mexico, colorado, rhode island, north & south dakota, ect.
also i told her west virginia so she asked "is there a south virginia???"
i told her "what about montana??? u know hannah montana???" and she said, "i thought that was a city???"
ok, now here's the piont, i now that a lot of people can name the fifty states, but how many capitals do you know???

Official names
State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations
Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Commonwealth of Virginia
The only such exceptions affect only the original 13 colonies. Many were also called "Province of..." but have since dropped the words from their official names.
The four above are ones that I have not found evidence for a change (that does not mean they did not change, only that I did not find traces of the change).

Well, yes I can, but two others have done so already. By the way, I am from the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. We are full-fledged citizens of the United States. . With some limitations; unfortunately, we cannot vote for the President!
Someday your friend will have to name 51 states and their capitals. The capital of Puerto Rico is San Juan.
