I was victimized by a prank. My "friend" told the girl that was going out with me that I always get fresh at the movie theater. He loaned her his pocket knife so she could protect herself while she was in the theater with me.

In the theater, I was nervous as heck but I got up the courage to place my hand on her knee. BAM! Out came the pocket knife accompanied by the line "You just better keep your hands to yourself!"

I was rattled to say the least but later the truth came out and we both had a great laugh about it.

For pay-backs, we typed a letter to my friend's parents asking them to talk to their son about his lewd behavor at school, then signed it as the school principal and dropped it in the mail.

First date? I was in high school. Met a guy that rode a Harley. I was 17 and he was 19. Needless to say, I liked his Harley better than I liked him. He let me drive it all over town (with him on the back) and it was a blast!

I've never had a date. In fact, I can count the number of times I've even hugged a girl on my fingers.

Undefinable. You might say my first date was giving her a ride to church, or you might say it was going grocery shopping. The grocery shopping date pretty much defines my marriage.

Well, since it was more than fifty years ago, the memory is fairly dim. But I do recall that it was my fifth grade "social" and the girl was Helen Stickney. Ah, "The sadest words of tongue or pen..."
