I would stay near myself. I have a 16 year old and you will not guess what she did when I was in the next room....

I would be available all thru the Party. You may need to stay in your kitchen, but a 16 you dont yet leave the kids alone, especially with lots of kids. You have a small house. If you want it left in the morning the kids need to leave by 11 and you should be able to stay awake till then...They get out of hand at that time. You do not have to in in the same romm but jut so they know that you are aware of them.

at whatever time you go into your room, DO NOT CLOSE the door. 16-year-olds can get into a heap of trouble in very time, especially when in a coed group. make sure your son knows the ground rules (no smoking anything, no booze, no sex, no-one in bedrooms, etc) and that he's responsible for what happens. He may not have the spinal capacity to keep things under control. which is why you should get out there and check up once in a while. you can be discreet -- you don't want them to think you're the police. the last thing want is for kids to be sneaking alcohol and losing the judgment (such as it as that age). Have fun!

Only after you lay down the rules to everyone, and leave your door open. You don't want some dead kid in your house the next morning. 16 is not the responsible age you are suggesting. Better be safe than sorry.

Never. When my kids get to that age, I'm standing by with a baseball bat and mace.
Edit: Ooh. See, you say "PARTAAAY" I'm thankin chicks and dancin...
4 boys and video games? Leave your door open and let them know you can hear them. Go to your room when ever you feel like it. Check on them randomly and often.

Chances are, if you have a 16 yo son, you are at least 30. These are high school kids. They will stay up all night. Chances are that whatever time you normally go to bed would be sufficiently early for them.

You should just leave them alone the whole time. Let them know you're there, but I wouldn't strick around. That's the last thing they'd want. You can check in every now and then if you get worried :P

That depends on what you are allowing to happen...how cool of a mom are you?...are you invited to celebrate with your son?...at some point, they will want to talk "teen talk" so I guess you`ll want to leave, but IT`S YOUR HOUSE!!...so I would find a couple reasons to meander back into the fray.....

if you believe him to be responsible, and if you know who his friends are, it should be fine, but no matter what, stay out of the way at least(obviously). if you don't feel comfortable leaving right away, just check on things every once and a while. it should be fine. good luck!
