No, you just give hands down when it is all too obvious they've got the answer wrong. Every situation is different though. Some times you give hands down if you think a person is answering with a yes or a no to a question just to earn a few points. In some cases, they can be a little bit in your face too, and then you give a hands down. Say they are pushing a point of view on you or you think there is somewhat violence in a contestant's tone, then you give a hand down. I do not know about the others, but I only give a hands down for a reason. Otherwise, anything said will do whatever the answer, whatever the question, but this is not what we ask about things for. People are entitled to have an opinion of their own, but they can also learn and hands down are good if only for the statistics' sake.

Thumbs Down, To Be Politically Correct. No, It Means They Have Violated Your Code Of Ethics, And You Want To Make Them Suffer. And, Yes, They Lost Their Opinion!

For me it doesn't mean that they should not have an opinion. I give a thrumbs down when someone is cruel or makes fun of a real problem. Also if I know that the answer is totally incorrect.
I will give a thumbs up to someone who has answered a question that I have also answered if I believe in the answer. I hope that we are not in this just to win, but to give and recieve information and help others and ourselves.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion. I wouldn't give a thumbs down just 'cos I didn't agree with someone else's opinion. I would only give a thumbs down if a comment was really offensive or nasty.

i would not pay too much attention to that because some people take exception to some of your answers and thumb them down no matter what you say, its meant to be a guide to a good reply that most people would agree with, but is has no credability now, so let it pass and stick to what you believe is the truth, good luck.

Everyone has a right to an opinion, I just happen to disagree with a lot of them.

It means politely that you don't agree with their opinion and that's all it means.

You communicate they have wronged in rendering an incompetent notion or proposition for belief.
The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative.
You did mean to say thumbs down, did you not?
