If you thought this day could be your last, would that change your idea of what that is?

I love to hold like a 4 to 5 month old baby... and feel them grab hold of me around my neck. That is so precious to me and such a warm feeling....

The most precious thing in my life is my miracle grandson. I call him that because my daughter should never have lived long enough to have him due to a terminal illness. She is also the most precious thing in my life. It is truly a miracle that she is still on this earth and not with her brother who passed away from the same illness 10 years ago. So, no, that would not change even if this was the last day of my life.

I have learnt that as soon as you call something "precious" it reminds you that it can easily be lost or taken from you. To put too much value on anything is to then allocate an equal and opposite measure of loss if you don't have it anymore. (the more you love the more your lose) In regard to Precious people the same can apply but more often the thinking is the allocation of that preciousness also draws you to protect them from any hurt or loss. The logical progression is (on the premise of using things and loving people, rather than the reverse) to therefore spend time with the people you want to protect while there is time. There will always be loss of possessions and people taken from you with you powerless to stop it. As soon as you leave you can't necessarily protect them any more. Do what you can for them while you have them with you.

The other people who have come into my life. Those that see me and care about me, anyway. Yes. People. And through them, to quote C. S. Lewis, I get to experience "little Christs."
No. I think that is most precious. Happy Holidays!

My daughter, 5 years old in September, just lost her first tooth. Nothing would ever change my mind about that. NOTHING!
And the memory of my 103 year old memere grandmother who passed last week, I'll miss her, and her holiday treats... her recipes and barking orders, I'll always cherish and I shall try to carry on the tradition!

Living it, of course, More specifically, living honestly, without regrets. Naturally, this would not change if I thought today could be my last; now that I think about it, any given day could very well be that day.

It would have to be my daughter. If it was my last day alive I would spend the day with her, and I would make a few video tapes of myself on our camera. I would tell her all the advice I would miss giving her, as I'd be gone. Stuff like dating and marriage advice, personal advice, stuff about myself she will never know, etc.
