touch him, but then I heard that the A's really want him to play part time DH, left-field. But won't his courtdates prevent him from playing? At this point, I guess I would say that Bonds will play for the A's next year if he stays out of court/jail. I would suspect he will get paid around 5 million for one year. Your thoughts?

First of all, people above who says Bonds will serve jail time next season are IDIOTS! The case won't be over until way after the season, even if he gets convicted.

If he plays at all next year (or ever), it will be with the A's. I don't really see any other AL team taking him. And if he does, I think it will be great for the A's! He can play 60 - 80 games in LF and DH the rest. Cust will DH 60 - 80 games and play LF the rest.

Even at his age, he is an OBP machine, which Billy Beane loves. And because of all the baggage, he will come at a discount. He's worth about $10M, but they can get him for a lot less.

Go A's!!!

Barry Bonds will be making $0 in the Majors for the rest of his lifetime. His career is over. With his legal problems off the field and his age on the field, he is not very attracting to other teams. Bonds will be asking for $5+ million a year which I don't see a team doing. He also has to play in the American League so that cuts off half the teams he will play with. Also, he would be a distraction for any team he plays for. Do you want your team to be viewed as the team that has a chance at the playoffs or the team that has Barry Bonds?

The A's could use another power hitter, but Bonds would have to play LF because Jack Cust is the team's DH.

Besides the A's, I can't think of any other team who would take that risk of signing Bonds. Maybe the Texas Rangers, but they're really looking for pitching.

However, if he doesn't play pro-ball, there is the possibility of him playing independent league baseball.

truly some it relies upon on Bonds himself. everywhere he is going, he's going to could take a severe pay shrink. The question will become no rely if a team it fairly is keen to threat offering a settlement to a severe-threat participant (injury and or criminal issues) can bypass to the minimum form Bonds has in techniques. He claims he needs 2 issues: 3000 hits and a international sequence ring. i'm not sure Texas, Baltimore, KC, or those communities meet his standards for a aggressive team. The Angels have been suggested yet they declare they choose no longer something to do with a steroids tainted participant. Seattle has been suggested, yet i think of funds are the undertaking there. Boston will pay him and is aggressive, yet they won't choose the threat or character issues. The Yankees seem the terrific extra wholesome on paper. The question is do they choose him?

I heard the trial might not even start until after the 2008 season, so that probably won't interfere. The A's are the leading candidate, as OAK is near his SF home, he's got his existing fan base to insulate him and he can switch to DH to concentrate on hitting. I've heard that A's GM Billy Beane is a big fan of Bonds, so ... I'd put it at even odds that he'll play for OAK in 2008.

I don't think any team in its right mind outside of San Fransisco would want him...why would anyone pay a huge chunk of money to someone who would not field, not play every game, get booed at HOME games, cause an unstable team chemistry, alienate fans, and be an overall jerk? Noone could pay me to take him.
