Tallywhacker. Honest, that's the only word I knew for it for the first eight years of my life. All in all, though, I prefer the more common Anglo-Saxonism, and I don't consider it nasty.

One option is "phallus." Someone has suggested "genitals," but that can refer to either male or female organs, so it's not really what you're looking for. There are lots of slang terms (quite a few of which are men's names -- peter, willie, dick, john thomas), but you might consider some of them nasty. Terms imported to English from other languages include schlong (or shlong) and linga (or lingam). In many cases, if you mean "penis," you should simply say "penis."

If you really want to be coy, you could say "his thing" or "member." But then again, if you want to be coy, why mention it at all?
