During the hard times, loads of Irish emigrated everywhere around the world (loads of Americans, Australians, English etc have Irish ancestry), They were often treated like **** but made a life for themselves and sent the money home.
So now polish are coming from a poor country (like Ireland once was) and making a life - sending money for poor families. Some might settle and become as Irish as the Irish, some will return home when things get better.
Irish been populating the world - so don't complain if some of the world populating Ireland now. You probably wouldn't want Ireland to return to how it was when no one was imigrating to it - cos everyone was emigrating &trying to get OUT.

I cant really get angry at them
We all heard the stories about what happened to us when we emigrated (no blacks or irish need apply)
Do you really want the polish telling stories about us later on in life saying how racist we are not to have helped them out?
But then again I haven't really been directly affected by them and if I was maybe I would have a stronger opinion although it seems pointless to blame a whole nation

Polish people are not taking over. We cannot run our industries without immigrants - farming, building, small industries etc. We do need them but some are arrogant and overbearing. They are exploited by Irish employers though who make them work long hours for the basic wage with no means of redress. There are many not so nice employers here who use immigrants as "slaves" They do not complain because big businesses and medium businesses can find replacements very easily.
As one whose family emigrated to London in the 50/60s where we had to work equally hard with little hope or expectation. No dogs. No Irish openly displayed on windows advertising accommodation. We worked hard, we played hard and drank hard
I know what it is like to be an immigrant

I am Irish and feel that in the 1980's loads of Irish people emegrated to America and were illegal there. Remember recently the Americans wanted them to leave.
We were see as the scum of the earth in Britain, no dogs, no backs no Irish. So how the heck can we complain about the Polish people.
We are just doing to them what was done to us.

I wouldn't mind it that much except for the fact they are ungratefully and openly hate us. They constantly call us ugly and stupid. (Ive seen it written in the papers a lot and a polish girl did tell me I was pretty and later looked at be shocked when I told her I was Irish)
And the head of the Polish in Ireland group whats Polish made an official language - He can fcuk off no way will I let that happen its bad enough that I see Polish (language) everywhere. Even my Lithuanian friend thinks its wrong. Ireland is an Irish country not a colony of Poland.
A lot of these answers are stupid, we the Irish in Ireland didn't emigrate anywhere (if we did then we wouldn't be in Ireland you fools we'd be in another country), so there is no reason we have to be empathetic.

Try living in North Wales. You get polish shops with signs outside saying no brits allowed entry. No wonder they get the windows smashed in.
