Cause we all know who's over/under-rated.
This can be whether they are great or horrible bands.
ALSO, for those who read the question details, as you should, put /your/ definition of underrated and overrated (but dont list those bands).

A properly rated band... maybe Pink Floyd? For me anyway, they ARE as great as everyone says. But then again some people only think they are a boring stones band and don't appreciate/ever heard Floyd's early stuff. I guess there are also bands like Opeth that get the credit they deserve but aren't overrated mainly due to the fact they haven't hit massive success yet. I think after a band hits it really big, they're bound to be overrated or underrated.
Overrated: A band is overrated if they are credited for being extremely innovative and groundbreaking when they are no more influential than the next band and they were just there at the right time.
Underrated: When a band is totally obscure or is only remembered for one song that doesn't do their entire catalog justice.

AC/DC is a properly rated band, by most accounts.
MOST people seem to follow Brian Johnson's instructions and not think too much about their songs and just enjoy the f**king music. They're not in the same caliber as Led Zeppelin or even Aerosmith in songwriting, but they are good solid rock band. & most people tend to see them that way.
Overrated is when people think they are like the gods of RnR and brilliant songwriters with gallons of influence.. when theyre alright.
& Underrated is pretty much the opposite of ^^.

Hmmm...I think the Beatles deserve all of the accolades they receive.
Underrated, to me, is a band that does not receive the recognition they deserve, from either the listeners or the critics.
A band that is overrated is one that receives praise that really should not, or has a large following that some may question.

Truth is most are properly rated so long as you don't believe a word Rolling Stone magazine tells you. One man's opinion means squat but a consensus of credible sources will often paint a very accurate picture.
underrated - receives far less attention and acclaim than deserved.
overrated - the opposite.
