anyone know? i haven't found the legality of trebuchets in any state, county, or city, on any websites.

my neighbors and the people at home depot all thought they were illegal, but it's my physics project that i was assigned to do lol. and now i'm wondering if i'm gonna get in trouble if i test launch it anywhere.....

Write to your state Attorney General's office and the local DA and City Attorney. Even if there are laws against shooting trebuchets it isn't likely that they are enforced, especially for school projects.

Trebuchets are definitely legal in Delaware, so you could think about moving there.

I would think it would all depend on it's its size and what you plan on using for the projectile and of course where you plan on using it to demonstrate it. I would say the school football field would be the right place providing it isn't too powerful but you might want to check with your science teacher and perhaps the school authorities, after all it does launch a projectile.
