OK, He could be Italian, Spanish or Portuguese nobody knows. He lived in Portugal (Azores) and married a Portuguese rich lady. he sailed under the Spanish flag to discover north America but some people thinks his knowledge come from the Portuguese and that he already sailed to north America on a Portuguese boat that sink near the Azores. Portuguese reach north America first and there is a rock in the U.S. written by Portuguese that proves that.

There's been (and there are) lots of speculation about about Colombo being Spaniards and not Italian, but no definitive proof till now; DNA examimation on (supposed) Colombo remains resulted inconclusive, because of DNA decay.
So, till now Cristoforo Colombo is considered from Genoa, Italy.
