Wow. My (non-existent) mate's past is irrelevant to me. If I'm already in the most wonderful relationship of my life, why should that make a difference? The past has passed. Wouldn't matter to me.

It would matter why she did it and for how long. Also important to know would be what lessons she's learned about herself from the experience and what made her stop doing it. Everyone deserves forgiveness for past mistakes, but on the other hand you need to have some reason to believe that history won't repeat itself---and there are lots of reasons to believe that a person can change and learn from past mistakes.
If you decide it doesn't matter to you and you'll move forward with the relationship, make a vow that you'll never throw it in her face in the future and thus make her sorry that she trusted you with this fact. That would not be fair since she is giving you the opportunity to back out now with this disclosure.

I didn't exactly collect money for performing sex; something else happened, which is along the same lines; told my husband about it and he fell deeper in love with me because of it; something that is a miracle in itself cause the culture he comes from really frowns on that sort of thing.

Well, people change. People make mistakes and I don't think that people should be judged based on what they did in the past. Point blank. I think that people should be more forgiving and if you like that person, move on regardless of what they did in the past. You can't change the past only the present and future.

He must have come from a past where struggles are not foreign to him, as I need someone who can relate to me. Other than that, whatever mistakes he has made in the past belongs to his past, as long as I know he has taken the steps necessary not to repeat them. I like someone who has fallen and knows how to get up, than someone who doesn't even know how to fall.

If she had lied to me i would tell her to PISS OFF FOR GOOD.
To say that the past is NOT important sounds very illogical from the perspective of metaphysics and psychoanalysis.
Edit...................
its not the past that matters. its the mental/psychological issues that come with the history. Where did you guys think that feminism found its enthusiasts......

Very much so. I am thankful for his past, because it had made him into a person I fell in love with.

That's one I wouldn't give a hoot about.
I thought you were going to ask something like, 'what if she had been a nazi?' ... now THAT would matter!
Cheers! :-)
