Bill Clinton didn't say he was the first black President. Toni Morrison a Nobel Prize winner said he was. She said he "displays almost every trope of blackness: single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald's-and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas." A lot of white people dont understand why but one reason is because when you look at the other Presidents and compare them to what Bill Clinton has done for the black community, you will see that Clinton has done remarkable things.

Bill Clinton is the one who started that. Obviously it is not correct. He was just sucking up to black people.

He plays the saxophone, he's no stranger to hard work and he calls a spade a spade...

That's "black" where I come from....

I'd be black too if I had any music in me - lol.

It's not like he "did anything" for black folks - he just didn't try to keep them down or manipulate them the way some politicians have...

he was supportive of the african american community plus he, unlike so many other politicians, came from a poor background in the South, growing up around mostly black people. this obviously shaped him as a person.
he also was surprisingly blind to class lines.
