What is meant by "ionic forces of attraction are non-directional"?

It means that the attraction is equal in all directions.

That seems to be a fairly vague question, but probably that if you had two ionic atoms of different charges such as sodium (Na+) and chlorine (Cl-) that they would attract each other, and therefore their net pull is canceled (Sodium pulls left, Chlorine pulls right, and together they don't pull in any significant direction)
