I'm a Democrat, and I despise communism, so ignore the rants of the ignorant fools that tell you otherwise.
The Soviet Union will not reunite because the countries involved don't want it, and the power of the Communist Party in Russia, etc., has diminished a great deal. They are still there, but their power has been greatly diminished.
My sweetie's family was on the wrong side of the Berlin Wall after WWII, and risked their lives to cross to the West. An older couple was shot to death right after they crossed over. If anybody says I support socialism because I am a Democrat they are an IDIOT.

Partially possible: Belarus- White Russia/ Little Russia -is mostly Russian populace, recent election winner had a re-unite with Russia plank, is cooperating with Russia quite a bit. Eastern 1/2 Ukraine is mostly Russian/Orthodox- voted for confederation with Russia, was out voted by western 1/2 Ukraine which is more Polish/Catholic, some hassles their about splitting country. Kazakhstan and Georgia have large Russian minority's , a little talk of old union sympathy but not much real support. Baltic states- only Latvia has a large but still minority Russian presence- most of them resettled /occupation after WW2- mostly around Riga military district, Lithuania and Estonia have very small amount of Russians and little talk of reunification.

My sincere apologies, but this has to be one of the stupidest questions, I've ever heard (or read). The countries of the former USSR would find it far more beneficial to join the European Union, (which their all trying to do, some being accepted, some not... outside of some unforeseen war, in which some evil empire conquers Europe, I don't see the former "Republic" states, joining anything BUT the European Union (which, again, is a financial benefit).

It is possible, but unlikely. It would take a series of wars and the threat of war by Russia to recreate the Russian empire, which the Soviet Union really was. It could happen as Russia is growing more powerful and militaristic thanks to the Putin-controlled and almost fascistic govt, and oil revenues.

No, of course not.
Why?????? IT'S CALLED FREEDOM FROM SOCIALISM.
No one wants Socialism, except North Korea, Castro, and our Democrats!!!!!!
The Soviet Union EXTERMINATED over 20,000,000 (million) of it's own people.
The only reason there was a Soviet Union was because FDR gave Uncle Joe Stalin all of Eastern Europe, during WW II.
This caused the people of Eastern Europe to be Slaughtered by the millions.
Some of my family were in slave labor camps for 20 years in the Ukraine.
And Still, Democrats want to be Socialists.
Well.... they may get what they want in 2009.
