I would have no trouble voting for them.
Government is Secular like Chess is Secular. Your religion might inform your actions but it should not get you any special privileges, any more than being Catholic means that your chess bishops can do what they cannot for anyone else, or that the rules should change completely just because you are playing.
I would have concerns about many Atheists that they made one decision and have not pursued those thoughts farther, but I would have a similar complaint of many who consider themselves religious.
However I would be predisposed to vote for a member of a religion with little power (as Kennedy was) because they, more than most, have an idea what a Secular Government aught to be and why.

How about voting for the best person to run this country and get it back on course, after nearly 8 years of "W'. It should not matter what race, religion, sex or creed the president is. Does that sound familiar? I personally believe that Hillary is the best suited to be our next president, I will, however, vote for whichever candidate wins the Dem ticket. Look at the GOP candidates, do they resemble America? All white men. Look at the Dem's, a woman, black and Latino.

No I would not refuse to vote such a candidate. I am strongly against a candidates personal religious beliefs being a factor in their run for President of a country that has separation of church and state. Too much time and energy is wasted on candidates explaining and defending their religious beliefs. A candidates religious beliefs make him no more or less moral than a candidate who does not believe. A candidates religious beliefs have no effect on how they would run this country. It is appalling that the current candidates are running around exploiting their so called faith to pander to those who weigh religious beliefs in whom they will be voting for. Their time would be better spent, clarifying their positions on current relevant issues, as opposed to how fervently they believe in God and Christ.
An atheist or agnostic would not make ridiculous statements that God led them to invade a certain country, or that they are against homosexual marriage because the Bible says it is wrong, or that abortion is wrong because it is taking a human life that God created and the Bible is against murder. Said candidate would actually articulate why he is for against such things without using the God crutch.

I doubt that out of all the candidates that a agnostic/atheist would be the most qualified. If they are pro-life then I would seriously consider it. An atheist/agnostic that was a moderate, I think so! Show me one that is not a liberal or a democrat and I'll think about it. I wish that the candidates were more important than their political party. End the two party system!

I would love nothing more than to live in a country where a candidate can come out of the closet and say they have no religious beliefs rather than trumpet how important his or her faith is and still remain politically viable.
That would be a refreshing change - a giant leap out of the dark ages.

I'll definitely vote for him then. Of course I'd back the women atheist US president, if she is the most qualified.
What does religion have to do with politics?

Sure I would. I don't think spirituality should enter into politics. Besides that, who is to say ones that claim they are religious really are? Politics are so fake. People should vote for the right person to do the job, not all these other superficial things.

I don't choose my friends based on religion, so why the hell would I choose the President based on it? What makes a good leader of our nation is their ability to listen to their morals, leadership abilities, care for the nation and people in it, and be strong enough to stick by good ideals, even with people hating them, though understanding the hate and making sure to fix it if they deserve the dislike.

I always try to vote for the presdential candidate that knows best for our nation. If thier religious beliefs happen to be in line with mine, then thats definitely an added bonus.

i dont vote at all.....religion has nothing do do w/it.....if u vote for someone and they do something terrible its the people who put um in office that should feel guilty....no one canidate can provide something good for everybody.....thats the reason their r different parties.....everyone has different needs that havent been met, someone always gets screwed over!.
if they could fix all the problems in the world then id vote...until then no.
it wouldnt matter to me if they were atheist or agnostic.
