I want to get one for my hubby for x-mas( a big sports gamer), but I'm still hesitant. Can "2" games be played? Are they going to discontinue "2" games now that "3" is out? Is it worth it? I would appreciate any help and details to make my decision easier. thanks

Yes, the Playstation 3 can play PS2 games, but the only PS3's that can play PS2 games are the 20GB, 60GB, and 80GB PS3's. The 40GB PS3 cannot play PS2 games.

The 20GB and 60GB models have been discontinued, so you most likely wont find those in stores, so if you want to get him a PS3 that can play PS2 games, your only option will be the 80GB PS3.

Eventually, PS2 games will be stopped being made. There will be games coming out for the PS2 next year, but most of the games aren't even games that are really worth buying. The best games will be coming out on the PS3.

And yes, the PS3 is worth it. The PS3 is a multimedia console, an entertainment and gaming console all in one. The Playstation 3 is a very reliable console and will last you for a very long time. I've had mine for almost a year and I haven't had any problems with it.

yes u can play ps2 game on the ps3. i believe that all can. i would recommend the 360. it is cheaper then the ps3. it has better games that are only for the 360. some are Bioshock, and the always great Halo 3. many say that the PS3 have better graphics. that is true but the 360 is not that far behind. they are very close to be similar. and i would go with the 360. cheaper and better games just for the 360. hope this helps. and if u don't like the 360 or have it the PS3 is a good system too but the 360 is better in my eyes
