I have AVG 7.5 free edition. An answer on YA suggested getting Spybot for free to back this up. Having gone through the process to get this they are now asking me to register and pay for them to protect my PC. Have I logged into the wrong site?
As an internet learner, your advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

spybot is free, dont pay, uninstall and use this official site to download http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
if you find this software usefull you can donate to them, they are a cool bunch and put a lot of work into the software, donate at same address, there are a lot of scam sites out there.

When looking for the free programs, always put "free" in the first part of you query on your browser, to find the free version.
