Last week he started yelling at me, I started yelling back. He said "close the door." I said "if I do I quit." I don't know why I stayed. I like what I do and all the people except one. I answer to him and he is the boss. Should I go to Human Resources? I feel he will find out and make my job even worse.

You need to change your tactics fast. Make him believe you adore and trust him. Compliment him. Make him believe you think he's competent and terrific. He will get off your case fast.

The last place to go is human resources...sheesh! Haven't you figured out yet, that their REAL job is to protect the company against the EMPLOYEES? Do what ever to pacify boss for now...meanwhile...start looking for another job. Life is far too short to be trapped working under a miserable a**hole...

Laurie is right ,, Lie to him , and treat him like you need him .. stupid though he may seem . we are each given our position . and the important role that That position tends .. he is putting in the same hours you are. and dislikes his job as much as you ,,, almost certainly,, bond about that if nothing else
