I suspect that there are so few Zappa questions because Frank's music would likely sail waaaaaaaay over the heads of most of the kids you find posting in Yahoo!Answers. Zappa himself certainly never suffered fools gladly...he is the epitome of artistic integrity, rest his soul. "Oh, my music offends you? Sucks to be you, then, doesn't it? Record company, you don't want a quadruple album of rock, jazz and classical? F-ck ya, then, I'll make 'em play it on the radio and tell all my fans to bootleg it! Hey, Tipper- you want to start censoring music? Okay...hope you'll like being known as the person responsible for eroding our freedom of speech then!" Zappa didn't give a damn what anybody thought of him, his music or his political views...not too many artists like that out there, are there? Sure, some of his songs are funny, some of them are downright offensive (not to me though) and some of them are so schwacked out that you can't help but wonder what he was on when he wrote it...until you find out Zappa didn't do drugs, and tended to seriously discourage his bandmates from doing them. He wasn't just a rocker, or a guitarist -and damn was he good!- he was a COMPOSER, and he was PROUD of it, g-ddamnit!!!
I seriously miss Zappa...he must be rolling over in his grave over what's happened to the world since the cancer got him. I caught an interview with Gail, his widow, a couple of weeks back...Alex Jones, the interviewer, asked her, "What do you think Frank would say about the state of the world today?"...Gail said simply, "He'd be saying, 'I told you so!!!!'"
Favourite albums? ALL of them, but particularly "Does Humour Belong In Music?"

Frank blazed the trail for everyone else to follow. He's accomplished in everything. Anything Zappa works for me.
He is sadly missed.
BTW: I'm an old hippie not in hiding.

I've asked questions about him before. (not for a while though)
He is a fantastic guitar player, who seems to get remembered more for his smutty lyrics than his brilliant musicianship.
He was so prolific that there are many many good albums but my faves are: Shut up n Play Yer Guitar, One Size Fits All, Them or Us, You Are What You Is, Joe's Garage, and The Great Yellow Shark (an amazing orchestral piece!).

yeah , well.....Frank was a somewhat "Musician's musician", and a lot of mainstreamers never could grasp the complexity of the music, .....but i'd bet they knew some of the lyrics, LOL! Musicians who know their stuff like frank because everyone in his band had to have "Chops" , and they were all monster players, they all had to sight-read the music that frank handed them, so you know it wasn't easy 3 chord pop crap!
