yeess... i do it all the time, my hubby always laughs at me when i'm doing it.. but i really don't know why do we do it!!

Because our pinky finger is stubborn and from experience we have broken objects using our pinkys. For fragile objects I tend to not use my pinky with the fear of breaking it with my stubborn finger. Ring finger is also another stubborn finger but works better than pinky.

I dont lift it to the extreme but it doesnot touch the fork or spoon but only cause it seems to get in the way when i do

Well, wen a person lifts his/her pinkie, it means that "the higher the pinkie, the fancier you are." this came from the U.K. this only happens when you are holding a dinnerware object.

my pinky doesnt "LIFT" like im sipping a tea cup in old england, but it does seperate - it even seperates for the most part while i type like right now because i have no use for them for the most part - i dont use home row

because it looks better. imagine holding a glass with your entire hand wrapped around it. It's looks a little unorthodox, as if you don't have much home training.

Yes, it's comfortable. It doesn't seem it, but try doing it with out your pinky and it will be uncomfortbale.

I actually do do that sometimes. When I realize I'm doing it, though, I put it down. It's suppossed to be fancy or something.
