The Hall of Fame makes no distinction about when you were banned - it's the fact that you were banned that makes you ineligible. It doesn't matter if you were a player at the time, or a manager, or some guy in the stands who pissed off the Commissioner.

And to Mosh: "There was no rule against throwing games when the White Sox players did it." Are you on crack? Even if such a rule didn't specifically exist (it did, by the way), that would fit into the category of "so incredibly obvious that there shouldn't need to be a rule prohibiting it."

1. He knew gambling was against the rules, regardless if you're a player, manager, trainer, etc.

2. He STILL bet on games he was involved in, knowing if he was caught he would be ineligible to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

3. He was caught, and made the deal to sign the lifetime ban in exchange for baseball not releasing their findings (that he bet on baseball.)

4. He lied about it to EVERYONE else for 15 years, until he wanted to sell books.

People that don't know the situation well enough think he should be allowed in, people that have done some research on it realize he should NEVER he inducted.

As a existence long Pete Rose fan i ought to declare NO he should not be interior the HOF. Kenesaw Mountain Landis and the 1919 White Sox set that precedent that baseball in uncomplicated terms has a million rule which will effect in expulsion for existence. playing and unfavourable the integrity of the activity. He, alongside with another participant (there are indications in each clubhouse), comprehend the policies and he chosen to violate them. Sorry Pete 4256 hits and a playing situation won't get you interior the corridor.

The differences between The 1919 Whitesox aka the blacksox, and Pete Rose are as follows:

Whitesox: A number of players conspired with gamblers to intentionally 'throw' the world series: They lost the world series on purpose for money!

Pete Rose: Pete did bet on games while he was a manager but he never bet on his OWN teams games.

But I absolutely agree with your last statement, Pete Rose SHOULD be admitted into the hall of fame for his accomplishments as a player, I mean the guy holds the all time hit record! How much longer are they gonna make him wait!

There was no rule against throwing games when the White Sox players did it. Also, players were grossly underpaid then and routinely throwing games.

Pete Rose knew the rule was established that if you cheat, you get a lifetime ban. He chose to take that chance and got caught.

Pete should be banned but the White Sox players shouldn't.

Pete Rose did gamble against his own team. He would never get in as a manager. His only chance is based on his playing ability and I doubt he will get in until he dies and definitely not get in as long as Selig is Commissioner.

Yes, eather way if someone is betting on sports and they play let them as long as it is not on teams they play during the season. Gambling is fun!!! Everybody does it even for fun....
Pete Rose played the hardest 100% of the time and didn't care how he won and to me that is how it should be played. (as long as it's not against the rules)
