I legally use 5 names right now (one first name, two middle names, and two last names from both mom and dad) and it shows on all my documents: drivers license, school transcripts, credit and tax information. I usually go by only my second middle name and it's such a hassle using all these names all the time. I've been thinking about a name change for the past couple of years to just change it from the name I usually use and only my dad's last name but it seems like it's such a hassle. I think I'd get confused on what to fill out on forms once I do get the legal name change or when to report my previous name vs. the new one. Does anyone who has had a name change offer up any advice or suggestions? Thanks!

Just changing the name is usally a simple process at a family court. You just need to show you're not doing it for some bad reason, i.e. to get out of paying bills. Then you just need to pay a fee and file the paper.

If there's a family layer with free consultations in your area, go talk to him. It should be no sweat and pretty cheap.

Getting all of your bills etc. fixed shouldn't be that big of a deal either. Start with social security & driver's licenses and then the rest are simple

Different names can be tolerated but when laws are strictly applied, you have a problem.
