and why did they in the first place i mean its better to have let the solve there problem on there own instead of interfearing with other countries i mean look what happened to Somalia now..

Somalian militants were starving and killing their own people in what was considered to be a mass genocide. The UNITED NATIONS decided that we should step in.

Read Black Hawk Down and get back to us. And yes, take another hard look at Somalia. You are a person with just a liitle bit of information who thinks he knows a lot... and that makes you dangerous. Read accounts of the people who lived it...not just heard about it or reported it. Go to the source or continue to show your ignorance..

Although when bullets start flying semantics don't mean a thing, we didn't actually go to war. We went in to protect the citizens against Aidid and his murdering of anyone that disagreed with his ideas. After his forces attacked the U.N. peacekeeping forces we sent in the Marines. When they were pulled out the Army went in.

The idea was to provide humanitarian aid to the people who were being systematically starved. It wasn't as easy as some people thought. This is why a lot of people say we shouldn't get involved in fighting to provide humanitarian aid, but only if our national interest is also involved, as in Iraq.
