I'm not an expert or anything (hell, I'm only 16) but I think this is my blood pressure. Some days I will get dizzy and lightheaded (like from low blood pressure) and I know it's not a big deal. But then some days I have extreme headaches like the ones caused by high blood pressure. These days can be back to back, but recently I've been experiencing both in the same day!

Like today I woke up and as I'm cooking breakfast I needed to stop and lay down because of a sudden drop in blood pressure (dizzy, nauseous, lightheaded, passes in a few mins if I lay down). and then a few hours later as I'm sitting doing my homework it feels like pressure builds in my head and I get this killer headache (but not a migraine, because I can look at light and am not sound sensitive) and my heart pounds and it can take a while to pass.

It is bad to have both extremes back to back in the same day? What would cause this? Just curious, but thanks for info!

I'm not a doctor, but I had/have this condition. It's called orthostatic intolerance, and it's really common during the teen years (I'm 16 too and my doctor said he sees it all the time at our age). See a cardiologist to make sure. If it is orthostatic intolerance, there's nothing to worry about. My cardiologist just said to drink plenty of water and take salt tablets.

It sounds like you have hypoglycemia or low blood sugar.

Graze throughout the day about every two hours.. Crackers or hard candies or small meals and see if this doesn't help.

I eat about every two hours, lots of carbohydrates to keep my sugar levels up. If I go over 4 hours without eating I get lightheaded, cold, and break a cold sweat. I always feel as if I am going to faint. The eating or grazing more frequently really helps.

Hm...is the manual sphygmomanometer new or old? Some need to be recalibrated or 'checked', especially the old mercury ones *cringe*, to make sure it is still within specs; your technique sounds fine, and the measurements are ok for systolic but kinda low in diastolic. Another possibility is that the cuff is not put on properly? like too loose around the arm? and is your stethoscope ontop of the vein at the elbow's crease?

You need to see a doctor. Many things can cause dizziness. Many things can cause a headache. I would not assume it is all related to blood pressure especially at 16.

Well this could be due to low blood pressure, hypoglycemia, or hyperglycemia or diabetes. Your low blood pressure (If what your symptoms are caused by) is very common, and can be natural, genetic, or caused by medication that you are taking to treat ADD, OCD, depression, anxiety, ETC (not just mental ailments). I would go to your pediatrician, and have him or her tell you if you need further help. If so consult a cardiologist. Your symptoms could be caused by a variety of things and it would take more than i could write to list all them i am aware of.

You need to see your doctor. It could be your blood sugar, adrenal glands (rare), migraine variant or other type of headache.
