Are dragons real?

Question

I've always been drawn to dragons (the topic) and I know that no one's ever seen one (maybe...) so I really want to know (I'm only 12 ok?). I've always just believed them to be prehistoric birds, but I have this feeling that I'm wrong. Please tell me! I'm only 12, so no cursing.

In case you did not already read my details, I'm a stupid little 12 year old!!

Long Story Made A Little Short:

In times when North America was just discovered and people began sailing here, the Chiniese(sorry if I spelled it wrong) discovered parts that were swamplands(Like Florida and up). In these lands they found big creatures that had scales and long tails(like that of a dragon) and they sailed back to were they came. They told stories(and I mean lies at that) of these giant beasts in America that could breathe fire, fly, and were still a beautiful sight to see. Aritsts and writers heard the stories and elaborated more... Thus you have the DRAGON!!

Part 2:

Scientist have found bones that resemble a dinosaurs, yet were they were found, how they were found(the way the looked when found) and what they looked like were completly different!! They found these creatures if you will to be younger than the Dinos. These fell beasts died during the Ice Age, or so they say. They were around when we were so stories could have been carried then distorted through time. Scientsts say they, whatever this was, are extinct, long gone. Yet, we are not sure if they were Dragons, but they are close compared to stories, and we can't tell if these things could have breathed fire, we know they could fly! There is a show that shows this, from 4 years ago, it might not be on anymore, but it showed how they would have lived and survived, mated and on...

my opinion is yes but I'll try to include both sides of the story in the answer and I don't mind the answer no as long as it has evedence and an explanation of why. I can't stand just yes or no

Well when you ask a question like I say why wouldn't they exist?

Now there was a big lizard that lived a long time ago (almost like a Komodo dragon but bigger.) but after the dinosaurs that was said to be in Australia. This lizard killed allot of early people but in a movie on animal "LOST into the past' or something like that it said that "we" used fire to kill them and set fire to the bush. Now other tribes might have had lizards ruining or may have killed people wile trying to escape the fire and some who saw that linked the fire with the animal.

now why might they not exist? They would have lived a long time ago and were killed by the KT event. But the water dragon would have lived.

now they could have moved on land as said in the site and humans would have not liked that much. There would have been fight and nobody lived to tell the story so dragons went into myth and legend. Sad. But the water dragon could be living at the bottom of the ocean and we have just not found them, there fossils could be lost to Earth's platal movements, or we just have not found them. Sadly the fossil found on that show was not real but there were fossils like that that were so that is one of the factors pointing to dragons. Stories could have been mixed up but dragons still could have lived maybe like the priestoric dragon only four limbs. Perhaps the bacteria said to have powered flight and fire could have ate away any evidence be for it could be fossilalized?

One popular thery is that they were dinosaurs, well that’s good but think could dinosaurs be dragons and one more thing maybe a dragon like the chines one existed and stories about it flying came around so other put wings on them. or maybe a dragon lived in between dinosaurs and birds? The hard thing about dragons is that there is so much that leads to them existing and not existing. The Silk Road was a rout that stories along with goods were pased and may have been misplaced. maby chines dragons exsisted but other people could not explain flying so they put wings on them.

one more thing...komodo dragons are monitor lizards now they may resemble dragons and that could be one of the stories that evolved into dragons but komodo dragons are MONITOR LIZERDS

So having said all that yes I believe dragons once lived, but they would not still be alive today.

hey, well as someone else said, there was a tv program about dragons and although they dont exist now, they could of back in dinosaurs time, this tv program found some fossils that they put together and it looked very much like a large dinosaur with wings and maybe the ability to breathe fire, we will never know, and most people view them as a myth. Dont be embarresed asking, its a perfectly valid question.

You never know, and one day we could find some evidance buried deep deep underground or deep in the ocean, its always best to keep you mind open and its nice to wonder isnt it :)

I believe that dragons are real. Maybe sometime in our very distant path dragons actually lived on earth. The dragons that I believe in today exist in the ethereal realm. That's kind of like a parallel dimension or an extension of this reality that exists in high frequency that humans can't normally detect. Not sure my explanation of the ethereal realms is the best, but the best I could do on short notice.

well there was this show on animal planet that talked about dragons being real. and tehy had evidence or something to prove it. it was on last year sometime. you should check it out! its a good documentry! i believe in Dragons.
