I am in love with my cousin, Edmund Bertram, but he does not know it.
We grew up together, I was in his family since 9 years old. They are rich, and I am poor. Now he is infatuated with a rich girl, Mary Crawford. She is very good looking, but she is not a very nice person.
I know it, it's evident, and Edmund does not notice anything. She is perfect for him. What should I do?

Dear Fanny,
Don't dismay. Chum up with Mary -- you never know, she might have a dashing brother! You'll forget all about Edmund...
Actually, scratch that. Stay obsessed with Edmund and who knows, with the right amount of scandal and timely deaths you might end up together. Good luck!

Sounds like a book I once read. Well, anyway, if this is true, it is NOT a good idea, trust me. When the rest of the family finds out, they'll get officially angry and pissed. Just tell Edmund what you feel about Mary, and let him do what he feels is right. Now, if it's really TRUE LOVE that you feel, then you're just gonna have to tell him and face the consecuenses, or elope.

I know this situation from Mary's veiw, love should be out of the family. Not in it. If Edmund loves Mary, and if Mary loves hims too, let them be and carry on with your life. Mary may not seem to be like a nice person to you, but she most likely makes Edmund happy. So let them be if they are going to be togther or are togther, cause drama may start if you interfere with their love life. Another thing, try to find someone else you love, after all, he is your cousin.

He's a cousin, which means that your relationship should not become child producing or you run high risk of problems with babies. Let Edmund have his love, and don't crash the party.

Read Longfellow's "Tales of a Wayside Inn" by Longfellow. And, Fanny, pay particular attention to The Student's Tale: "All things come round to him who will but wait".

That sounds like a book but if it's true, you need to get over him. The rest of the family will not be too happy with this.
