I was just wondering...does it turn you off to a question or an answer on Y!A if there are typos? I don't mind them so much, but I've noticed others being pretty mean when people have typos and grammatical errors.

I've noticed some of my own, I usually have them when I'm at work and am typing really fast. (So that I don’t get caught)

What do you think?

I find myself using text message/chat lingo sometimes like: omg, lol, lmao, btw, faq, fubar, fyi, bff, t2ul, wtf, etc...but that's on purpose. I also seem to use ... way too much. It's kinda fun to break away from trying to write everything perfect sometimes...(there I go again)

I'm kind of a Grammar Nazi, but it depends... = )
Sometimes, there will be an occassional typo which, similar to your case, results from people typing really fast, late at night, etc. I've done this a lot myself. Then there are some users who don't necessarily speak English, so their questions/answers might come out funny, yet most of the time you can decipher what it is they're trying to say. However, I've come across a lot of questions/answers that have been typed in the most bizarre ways and many others that you simply can't make out the meanings of... In the Comics & Animation section, you'll find a lot of questions/answers with "fangirl" characteristics, if you know what I mean. You might be familiar with some of those, LOL...
I guess the ones that annoy me the most are the ones tYped A l0t lyK diS or ones that have extra, excessive, unnecessary characters included... I may see a few grammatical errors that just make me cringe (i.e. "your" & "you're"), but for the most part, I can tolerate it if the question/answer overall makes sense. Anyways, it's not like I'm going to message the user telling them they used the wrong form of "there" or report/give them a low rating for not using spell-check. If the question is answered and it makes sense to the one asking, then all is well = )

I use ellipsis (...) a lot as well; they have a nice personal effect to them.

Sometimes they're typos, sometimes the person simply can't spell or punctuate. I mistype sometimes when I'm going too fast, but I usually re-read my answer and make any necessary corrections.
I'm sometimes one of the meanies who corrects people.

well, if they are just honest mistakes its fine, but sometimes they offend ppl

cause like i was emails some of my mormon friends and i missed out the 2nd M so i called them morons. lol
they got kinda mad

if its just spelling mistake and i can still understand it i dont care, but some typos make the sentence mean something really weird
