I am going to see the musical, "Wicked," in January or February of 2008. Currently, I know that Stephanie J. Block is cast as Elphaba. I hear her contract is near expiration (well, according to a comment posted on YouTube), but she only just started on Broadway, didn't she? I wanted to know if she would still be there in January or February of 2008..... I REALLY want to see her, and she has been the best Elphie since Idina Menzel (whom no one can compare to, by the way!). I really want to see her, is she still going to be there? Please help me!

Couldn't tell you if she'd still be there, but she did just start Oct. 09, 2007. You could try writing through her website to see if they'll answer with that information

I'm not sure is Stephanie is going to be there or not, but if she isn't then her understudy Lisa Brescia is going to be there along with Annaleigh Ashford as Galinda. I saw them on youtube at Wicked Day b/c Stephanie was on her honeymoon and I have to say as a HUGE fan of the OBC (original Broadway Cast) and the fact I have seen Lisa perform live, Annaleigh and Lisa have just as much chemistry as Kristin and Idina. I think she might still be there, but if not you are going to see an AMAZING cast with voices and chemistry equal to the OBC.

Stephanie J. Block is to me the best, but then she was wicked in the Wicked I saw in the touring company in Los Angles. I personally think her voice it just a touch stronger than Idina, who I love also. I hope you get to see Ms Block, and I find nothing that indicates she will be gone that soon. You know that she was suppose to do the role first on Broadway, but the money men wanted a bigger name.
I first saw Menzel on David Letterman and had been DVRing the show, and I felt chills with Defying Gravity. I forced my family to watch it, and they went nuts, and my daughters extracted a promise that we would see it if it ever came to L.A. Best money I ever spent was seeing that company at the Pantages.
Lastly, please let them film this musical before to long. I have to see it and own it, and watch it 199 times.

when you get to NY just call the theater and someone there will tell you if she's on or not.
