That is a good question.
I believe it is because a lot of liberal consider themselves educated and so they stop educating themselves or at least they only educate themselves on the things they already believe which amounts to the same thing.
Anyone with a brain knows that if you are not moving ahead you are falling behind everyone else.
That is what happens to liberals in my opinion.
PS: The "Rush Limbaugh" answer is a perfect example of uneducated liberalism. The Latin root "Liber" means "free". The Latin suffix "al" means "relating to". In VERY simple terms Liberal means relating to free, neither for nor against. In popular terminology it means "free to change" in opposition to the word Conservative which means "Together we Maintain" (or keep the same).
In basic terms, Conservatives want to keep things the way they are and Liberals want change.
The vast majority of "liberals" do not know what the word means.

Rhetoric claiming to be fact is disguised with emotion. Emotions are easier to cling to; easier to remember than dry facts. Liberals feel best grouping together as they are expected to by the party. Bonding in such a way is cemented with a bucket of slogans shared and indoctrinated.

"The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so." - Ronald Reagan
I truly believe that many Liberals just take the "easy road" when it comes to getting information, so they are easy prey for being duped. I was an economics major in college, and when I would speak to Liberals about economic matters, it was like they had read the first five pages of an economics chapter, and then figured they knew it all.

This is not true of all liberals, it only seems to be true of this generation.
And it's not that they're uninformed, it's more like being stupid intentionally. This is not intended to be an insult but a statement of fact. When you intentionally block out information, you impose upon yourself a status of being uninformed, hence intentionally stupid.
Anything that contradicts the liberal point of view is treated as if it's not information. However, Mother Nature is pretty cruel. She doesn't care if you ignore her or not, you eventually suffer the consequences for your ignorance.

your supposition is based on absurd logic, the opposite is true in nearly all cases, the most uninformed look to pundits rather than research and personal development of ideas. many of the more liberal people I know do not own a TV but read a lot.

I understand what you mean, several students at the college I go to are blind liberals and hate anything else, to the point of threatening violence. They seem blind sheep, a rabid army of lemmings really. I distrust either side equally, they would do well to be so cautious.

Speaking of uninformed I think this question and your comments underneath it would certainly fall into that category.

I don't agree with your premise that the most uninformed are usually liberal; I've seen uninformed individuals from all over the political spectrum, and educated, informed individuals from all over the political spectrum.

I believe they make no effort to inform themselves better because they believe they already know everything and have all the answers.

I think your question is naive, in that you and I both know it's not just the liberals who are massively confused in their world view.
There are no answers to your question, just opinions.
