is it a scam? i am thinking about buying the book that i am in i just got a letter from them but so many people say they are a scam did i just get lucky or did they really like my poem?

Lucky, no, just unlucky enough to get scammed by the oldest poetry scam around. It's a ripoff from the word poetry.

I was one of the first to warn everyone about this, because it happened to me. I was a semifinalist, and once I did a little research, turns out that poetry.com is a big fat phony!!! I warn you, do not send them anything else. They could be using your work for their personal gain, for all we know. Stay away from them, as it is a waste of time. Any money you give to them will go towards their pockets and not your talent. You deserve better than dealing with poetry.com. Wish you luck.

They don't care about your poem. They just want to sell you that book, at a ridiculously high price. If you fall for the con and send them your money, you'll see how much really bad poetry they've put in the book, in hopes of selling copies of the book to every writer they've included. Plus, they'll keep trying to squeeze more money out of you for other worthless products. Don't have anything more to do with them. They are bad news.

never thought writing or any art form as a contest.it's not a football game or nation against nation.
if one can write something that conveys feeling and or emotion,no matter how simple or complex,and it's understood,then it may be called poetry.i've seen some great stuff on this site,that may never go past here.a simple complement goes a long way.leave the competition to those who seek it.means nothing.
