What sort of quality does this line of cosmetics have? Are they very pigmented or not? Prices of these cosmetics? I'm trying to decide whether to purchase some of their eye/cheek palettes for Christmas but I don't want to waste money if the pigments are weak. I'm also interested to hear your opinions about their foundations and if they blend well/have a wide range of skin tones available to match all sorts of ethnicities. Anyways, even if you haven't tried it, please give me suggestions for a department store quality cosmetics brands with very pigmented shades because I have to dress up a lot during this holiday season and I need to look glamourous. My hair is naturally black so I need cosmetics that are just as bold looking or else they won't make me look any differently. Thanks for your help :)

Hello Jaime! I can tell you anything you need to know... I am a former Merle Norman Beauty Consultant. Know that each store is independently owned and operated, so prices may fluctuate a tiny bit from one place to the next.

Palettes: There are 8 standard palettes that MN sells year-round. Each has 6 shadows and a blush. 4 are mostly matte, neutral shades ($32), and the other 4 are bold shimmer shades ($34). This year there is also another palette with 5 shadows, 2 blushes, and an eyeliner, but I am not sure of the price.

Pigmentation: The shadows do indeed have good pigment. There are 22-28 matte shadows, and 12-16 shimmer shadows in powder form ($12), 8 shades in crayon form ($12), 6 shades in creme form ($12), 6 shades in dust form ($15), and 8 in mousse form ($15). My favorites (I'm acutually wearing them right now!) are the creme in Karat Cake (gold) and the mousse in Bronze Blizzard (bronze). For blush, the creams ($15) and the mineral ($17) have a litte more pigmentation than the regular powder ones ($15).

Foundations: MN has several, but a few are being phased out. For dry skin, try Total Finish ($20)... thick and creamy. Or try HC12 ($26)... lighter mousse with 12 skin conditioners. For oily skin, try Lasting ($26)... light liquid that stays on. Or try Smart Finish ($26)... cream to powder. For all skin types, there is Ultra Powder Foundation Compact ($24), Purely Mineral Foundation ($24), Timeless Liquid Foundation ($30) .... has optical diffusers to give skin a more youthful glow... and Sheer Defense Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 ($30).

I have a friend who is Indian who wears MN foundation, and a friend who is Latina who does, as well. For highly pigmented shadows, MAC, Urban Decay, and Lancome are nice.

I love Merle Norman's products, and yes...I'm under 65. Lots of Merle Norman studios do make overs. I would make an appointment. I'm not quite sure if they charge. When I went to prom, they didn't charge, but I always made sure I made a purchase like pressed powder or lipgloss just to be curtious.

I don't like Merle Norman cosmetics, I do love Bare Esectuals. the colors are great, and you can mix and match, and it's genital enough that you can sleep in the makeup, if you forget to wash it off at night. Its all pure mineral. You can buy it a Sephora, and QVC..... good luck
The Merel Norman, is to cakey, and it runs when you get hot.
