No I am not really a superstitous person. Being super stitious is like being too religious. It keeps you from doing this you do want to do. Keeping you back from fulfilling your life. I feel bad for some kids who got to wear scarves and can't play football or swim because their religion restricts it.

There is no need for ancient superstition. Science has made these myths redundant.

A superstition is a false belief based on ignorance (e.g., if we don't beat the drums during an eclipse, the evil demon won't return the sun to the sky), fear of the unknown (e.g., if we don't chop up this chicken in just the right way and burn it according to tradition while uttering just the right incantations then the rain won't come and our crops won't grow and we'll starve), trust in magic (e.g., if I put spit or dirt on my beautiful child who has been praised, the effects of the evil eye will be averted), trust in chance (if I open this book randomly and let my finger fall to any word that word will guide my future actions), or some other false conception of causation (e.g., homeopathy, therapeutic touch, vitalism, or that I'll have good luck if I carry a rabbit's foot or bad luck if a black cat crosses my path).

Superstitious beliefs are universal. Every culture has its irrational causal beliefs, but some cultures are exceeding superstitious even in the 21st century. For example, the use of astrologers is still widespread in India, a country with many superstitions.

Sometimes superstitions may contain a grain of truth. For example, the belief in maternal impressions was deemed a superstition in the early twentieth century, but it is now taken for granted that a fetus can be significantly affected by the mother's physical and emotional experiences. And, if you believe the gypsy who predicted you would die at 43 is correct, your anxiety might well contribute to your early death, fulfilling the prophecy.

I happen to be somewhat superstitous. I catch myself going around the ladder, than under it. I also get worried when I break a mirror! Overally, that's really it. Generally, I don't take superstition to the max.

Spiritual but not superstitious. There is a distinct difference. A superstition is baseless. For example, that if a black cat crosses your path, it is bad luck. (That is drivel from Christian immigrants who went on witch hunts)
Or that if you open up an umbrella inside your house, it is bad luck. No DUH if it smacks over a vase or something.
Or walking under a ladder. It is more common sense gone haywire. Superstition is irrational. Spirituality has a basis to it that may seem irrational to the untrained.

Yep,...if you want to call it that...I believe things happen for a reason......and that there are no mistakes.......But if you tend to knock on wood, or spit in ya shoe if a cat crosses your path...and it makes ya feel better about yourself..then I say go for it....cause whatever makes ya feel better bout yourself...is always a plus.....and helps your mind stay balanced...lol

In the way that, if I did something bad, as in steal, I genuinly believe some divine force will get retribution against me. Karma I spose.

I really am. i really believe in karma, although I don't want to. if I were perfect, I'd want to believe that ultimately, everyone determines their own fate. however, when weird things happen to me, I can't help but think that I did something previously to cause this to happen.

I'm sometimes superstitious but I never really got into it because I always know that God has a plan for me.

yeah, i don't know why. i'm not that superstisious, like, i walk under ladders etc, but if someone drops a knife, then i'll think "ooh, we're getting a visitor." and so on xx
