Autumn is definitely a girl name. So is Jade.

Lyra is a very pretty name, and the fact that it's in the film will give an unusual choice some familiarity. But if you're going to use a name that's a bit of a stretch for the first name, I'd go with a more classic choice for the middle name.
Lyra Caroline, Lyra Celeste, Lyra Jane, Lyra Genevieve ... something like that to balance out Lyra.
I don't care for Autumn as a boy's first name. August is great, but Autumn is used quite often for girls.

Autumn is a girls name. No two ways about it, its not just feminine. The boy would be mocked. Especially if you gave him the middle name Jade. Which is also a girls name.
I think Lyra is a decent name though. Its also the name of a constellation which is pretty cool, and has a neat story to with it, sort of romantic (the Greek myth w/Orpheus I think, I never read the Golden Compass books).
I think Ahndria is cute too, I would prob spell it the normal way but I'm just a little boring that way:) But please don't name your son Autumn, its cruel.

Lyra is a beautiful name. I like it alot. But I didn't get it from the Golden Compass Movie. Autumn is a good boy name too, but Autumn Jade sounds too feminine..

I love the name Lyra thank you for putting it out there! I am actually going to see that movie tonight but I didn't know what her name was. I think Jade is ok for a boy but Autumn is probably too girly. I am guessing you want to go with Jade after yourself too?

I loved the name Lyra even before the book. The book makes it even better to me. It makes it sound stronger, independant, and brave.
However, I think Autumn sounds more feminine to me. So I'll pass on that one. Autumn Jade is a bit worse.
But Lyra Andrea is very pretty, yes, it works.
PS People: Who the heck cares about someone ELSE'S religion? In the Golden Compass book, Lyra BELIEVES in God. So don't think he's trying to make everyone not believe. I HATE it, when people judge it but havent even read it themselves. It makes people want to see it MORE ya know.

Autumn is way to feminine, so is Jade
What about Anthony Jacob
Maybe Lucas instead of Lyra. I think lyra is a constellation and is supposed to look like a harp. Again, feminine.
Why don't you name him after a male relative that you like?

Honesty, I think that Lyra sounds too much like Liar. No good.
And Autumn for a boy is too feminine - he'd probably get made fun of. I've heard of August for a boy, although I still don't like it that much.
Jade is an improvement.
Sorry! Not meaning to criticize your ideas, because it's great that you're thinking "outside the box" just giving my honest opinion.
Have you thought about the name Archer Jade or Jade August for a boy?
What about Lola Ahndria or Lillian Autunm or Autumn Lylah for a girl?
