put it this way, its like when other females call each other bitches in light conversation. Then a man turns around and calls them bitches and its a power hold, the way he is using the word bitches. Same goes for the n word.

It is set by the black culture.,..that is the truth. The word "n*gga" is mostly used to call there black people who are friends with them. You will mostly hear this in rap songs. The word "*****" is from our black race. The reason why we do not allow others outside the black race to use the "N" word because some people can take it the wrong way.
Or some of the black people will be offended if you are not trying to say it like "He is an idiot" .

Today

N*gga means friend or homeboy

N*gger means stupid and ignorant black person.

If you know how to use the word right, you are good

The frequency of light reflected by one's skin, and the frequency of sonic vibrations produced by one's mouth combine with a synergistic effect.

Directly related to the frequency of light reflected by a listener's skin, certain combinations of transmitted light frenquencies and sound frequencies are together audiably irritating.

The mechanisms of this three wavelength synergistic effect are as of yet unknown. Further study is warrented.

I here suggest that substantial government money be invested into scientific research in determing the exact numeric values of the offending frequency combinations described above. Following these studies, specific sonic-light frequency combinations deemed socially damaging can be outlawed and enforced with severe punishment.

ok. I don't understand why this question keeps coming up, because it's common sense not to generalize. What is your proof in saying this? Rappers? Are all black people rappers? I mean, how insulting can you get. You're not racist, but you are obviously ignorant. This is the last time I'm going to say this: NOT ALL BLACK PEOPLE USE THE "N" WORD. If you can't comprehend that then...there really is no hope for you.

Say you and your friends greeted each other by saying what's up bit*h. You know its negative connotations, but it's how y'all talk to each other. Now imagine a guy who bullied you when you was a kid greeted you in the same way. You would most likely think they was insulting you and act accordingly. That's the difference between white people and black people saying the N word. It's the intent behind it. One may use it as a greeting, the other means it as an insult.

Black people will get mad at being called the N word by a white person because of the history behind it. It's a symbol of white racism and can in no way be deemed non-offensive. It's a racial slur and is meant to put the Black person "in his/her place". Think of Michael Richards sceaming the N word during his stand up. It didn't sound like he was trying to be friendly did it?

The mistake is using entertainers as an example of what all black people do and say. Young Buck is one of the people in the industry using the N work as a gimmick to sell records to the masses. I'm sure he doesn't talk like that in his mother's house. He doesn't represent all black people, and his use of the N word isn't OK. He simply gets a pass because he's black and foul language sells.

Oh, for heaven's sake. I've really never understood why people don't understand this!!! Like a poster mentioned some gays call themselves f* but wouldn't tolerate non-gay people calling them that because generally when it's used by non-gay, it's used as an insult. I wouldn't call a gay person the f word cause I'm not gay and though I can sympathize, I have not gone through the same experience.

I'm black and me and my sister call each other this name on very rare occasions in an ironic way. For example, when we are in a store and a security guard is following us while non-black teenagers are stuffing things under their shirts, and we say ooh ooh, you know the ns are around in an ironic way to laugh.
The words used, fa*, n*, chi*k, whatever are used to hurt, and this is one way of removing the sting and bitterness.

There is a test to know when to use the word n*. It's a very hard one though.

Lift your arm, and look at the color. ARE YOU BLACK? HAVE YOU ON ANY OCCASION BEING CALLED THIS NAME? If not, it's not for you. There're very few non-black people who I'll tolerate this from and don't mind. They are all very dark Indians and were called this word. (Sometimes it can be funny when we are walking with our very dark Indian friend, people seriously run like we are going to eat them or something. Ha ha ha. I'm surprised they don't call the special forces to neutralize us.)

I don't like artists who use this word a lot, I won't use it in general conversation, but I certainly won't tolerate a non-black person sauntering up to me and using this word. If you are not black, why use it? It seems some people are dying to use it, and use the excuse that other black people use it to justify themselves. WHY?

This is not a good metaphor but hopefully someone here will be able to use it to connect the dots. Some guys, sometimes they insult each other, hey you bas***, hey jerk*ff, hey as**ole, or whatever not in a mean way. But imagine someone they didn't know or just met just came into the group and started using these insults, do you think it would be welcome? Now extrapolate that.

REPEAT, IF YOU ARE NOT BLACK, HAVEN'T GONE THROUGH THE HISTORY OF BLACK PEOPLE, YOU ARE NOT WELCOME TO USE IT. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHETHER OTHER BLACK PEOPLE USE IT, THAT'S NOT YOUR CONCERN.

Another poster said it should just be in history books. This is what I hope for one day so it becomes a senseless historical anomaly. Until then I understand why some people use it and won't tolerate others using it.

You can insert any minority group that have ugly insults.

SHEESH.
