Aftermarket parts are generally made to meet or exceed OEM specs. Almost all original parts are manufactured by an aftermarket company. You will also find that dealing with aparts store is better when it comes to any warranty issues with the part.

It also depends on the parts being replaced. Body panels should be OEM because of fitment issues. As far as mechanical parts go, yes there is a huge difference between OEM and aftermarket, it's called price. A lot of aftermarket parts are made by the same companies (often in the same factories) that make the OEM parts. But since the OEM parts have the "label" they cost more. It's just like designer clothes, you pay for the name. I have sold auto parts for a long time and I can tell you that there are times when the aftermarket parts are better than OEM. The makers can introduce innovations to their aftermarket parts that they can't in the OEM lines. The car makers have very strict controls on how the parts are made, which can be good at times, but not always. The bottom line is that you should not worry about the use of aftermarket parts. But if I read correctly, you may hae a little conflict with the shop about the bill. If the adjuster estimated for aftermarket parts and the shop insitst on using OEM, someone (You) will pay the difference. You may need to get everyone together to make sure they're allon the same page.

Original parts are the right way to go, especially if you drive Honda or anything non-American. American rubber, in general will not last as long on these cars. If you want to save money, use the internet and shop your best genuine Honda deal. There are plenty of mail order parts available and usually a dealership from out of state can ship a part to you at a discount and you will still save money. And yes, they are more durable and trustworthy than aftermarket parts, especially for something that needs all the strength in it that Honda engineered in the first place!!!

Get the OEM belt as you would get the maximum service life out of it with confidence. I know the OEM timing belt costs more, not much more, than aftermarket one. it's more durable and worth replacing it with OEM. An aftermarket part(a copied part) may and can cause premature wear and tear.

Go with aftermarket.
I know some come with a lifetime warranty, but I don't buy those, because I can't afford the repair bill when they brake. I just go ahead and replace them on schedule.
