I love discovering new genres of music. I'm just getting into country. In my region the alternative, rock and roll, hip/hop etc. seem to dominate. So I don't know many country artists except for the big names like Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions of good artists? Good looking cowboys lol?

I'm looking to make a country version Christmas CD with holiday classics that have that genuine southern or winter cabin feel.

Thanks guys and Merry Christmas!!

Taylor Swift has a new Christmas CD out and it is awesome.

There is a CD called Hear Something Country Christmas 2007 that has Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler and some others.

Rascal Flatts sings God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen which is very good!

Faith Hill and Martina McBride also have some christmas songs.

You can find most of the songs on itunes.

Yeah there is one song I'd recommend with a Southern AND winter cabin feel, if you like Johnny Cash, and I have a specific version in mind:
There is a 2 disc set called "Christmas With Johnny Cash", here is the Sony number: 2CD Box Set Sony SPX5055 - SPX5056. On the second disc, track 15, a unique version of "Christmas As I Knew It" where he has a little dialogue with his mother (she talks at the very beginning of the track) and he dedicates the song to her, plus Mother Maybelle Carter accompanies Johnny (with guitar) and is just a very special version of this song, the lyrics flow better than other versions of this song I've heard. Very special to have Johnny, his mother and Mother Maybelle all on the same song.
