I wonder if it is a totally praiseworhy practice to employ dyslexics as Proof-readers and Sub-editors?.
I must say that the adverts for staff do a wondrous job in finding euphemisms for antiquated phrases like "Drooling idiots considered for Columnists"
and "Inability to read and Write a positive advantage"
Personally,I used to worry about the Inmates of the Local Insane Asylum when it closed down.
But fortunately, they all settled in happily at the Grauniad.
BTW did you see the Corrections section on Wednesday?
"Ringo Starr did not appear in the film "Stagecoach". .....It was the "Ringo Kid"

Hi Uncle Joe.
Typical Guardian "put down"
How long did all your committee take to come up with that rejoinder?

Hmm...know that you mean. The Grauniad was indeed a fine newspaper when I was growing up (late seventies-late eighties), but wonder who it's impressing now...bet it's not students for a start. Maybe it's readers are still imprisoned, but this time in thin-air atmospheres, like London postcodes N1, NW3, W11 for a start.

Publishers, I found over 500 spelling mistakes (I kid you not)
in the book 'The King of Torts" it completely spoilt a good read.

they not all be dyslexics

i was a lunchtime bar maid next door to the offices of the evening mail in Birmingham

the proof readers used to come in at lunchtime and roll out quite merry at closing time .............so that explains the typo errors not being picked up on that paper..

Isn't the Guardian the British Pravda?

I suppose we should be grateful to the Grauniad for letting us know how councils are spending our hard earned cash on hiring ridiculous people for ridiculous jobs at high salaries. Hey, it's only the council tax payers' money!
The best thing about their 'Corrections' is when they add a correction to a 'Correction'. pmsl.

Why the bitterness, did they turn you down for a subbing job?

Thanks for the two points.

---Update---

Thanks for the comment Vincent, it took the Politburo roughly 20 seconds to approve the rejoinder.

What exactly is your problem? If you don't like the Guardian just don't read it! Making up childish lies just makes you look stupid!
