In the parlance of the post-WWII world, the first and second worlds were the "free" nations (the U.S. and its allies) and the Communist bloc (USSR and its allies) while the third world was made up of the unaligned former colonial nations of Africa, Asia and Central & South America. The struggle for world domination revolved around the first and second worlds "battling" each other by supporting Third World revolutions and economic exploitation.
