Take any kind of anti bacterial powder (or carpet powder)you may have... then vaccum some of it up.

Take it off and put in the freezer (wrap it in a garbage bag first of course) If you have a good chest type freezer, it will kill any insect in there, or at least keep them quiet until you can fill the bag and dispose of it. If it were just insects you'd be worried about, you can always squirt some bug juice into the suction end just before you turn it off so it gets to the bag but not blown out the air exit port.

I don't know how many germs, er bacteria and virus' you are sucking up with vacuum.............

Short of pouring bleach over your bad, I don't know what you can do to sanitize your bag other than throw it out. You can put a fabric sheet in there to make it smell better though.

Your best bet is to get a vaccum with a hepa air filter.
