I think there should be a limit, it is bad enough having a foorball team named after a city without anyone from that city or area playing for it. I long ago saved myself money when I realised that the local team was not local at al and these days is just a money making machine for a foreign investor

I don't think there should be a limit, and I think it's pathetic when people blame foreigners for our lack of English success. As the person above rightly said, we won nothing between 66 and 96 so how dare we look for a scapegoat?

If the English players were good enough they'd make their way through the teams. The difference is, Spanish and Italian kids train for hours on end whilst there's none of that with the English kids. There's no encouragement, and when an English player does actually prove his worth - he's valued by his club at ten times the price a foreign player is, meaning the bigger club will overlook him. You can't blame foreigners for that.

I think it's about time we took responsibility for our own shortcomings, instead of looking for easy targets like foreign players. I know it's not nice to admit we're not good enough sometimes, but the sooner we do it the sooner we tackle this problem.

Football is a business like any other. If you restrict the labour market, then you'll acquire sub-standard labour. This will result in worse results for English clubs in Europe, meaning less money for the English game. With lower wages on offer, foreign players will seek employment in Italy and Spain. English players will therefore not have week-in-week-out experience against the best in the world. Meaning they will have even less chance of succeeding on the international stage.

Its just a big excuse all the fools are falling for. England have been sh*t for years. England have always been crap, only won the world cup because it was held here. Not shut up bout it since. I'd rather have an exciting EPL every week then a sh*t one. Have you ever looked at the championship coz thats wot we'd have. If English players were good enough they'd be in prem sides.

if you take away the foreign players, then the prem will be a sub standard league, and the english players will be playing against other sub-standard players...hardly likely to improve them is it.
also , whats stopping young english players from playing abroad - ill tell you, the foreign teams dont want them as they dont have the required technical skills and footballing intelligence of their foreign peers. This is down to coaching...theyre taught more of how to be strong, be physical and have 'heart'. this is why the national team arent good enough - when they dont show 'heart' then they have nothing else and lose..just like against croatia.
and wasnt this supposedly the golden generation of english players...no coincidence it came about when the prem had lots of foreign players, it has improved them but they still have a long way to go

there are too many forgein players in england. but the more important problem with england is that they lack the ability to score goals when it counts.

Yeah there are to many
but its a problem that is easily solved, put a rule in saying there has to be at least (number) English players in the 16 man squad,
thats all they need to do.
Eventhough some of the forign players are the best in the world and exicting to watch e.g C.Ronaldo it is still spoiling the national side because the yound players are not getting enough football to improve their game e.g Walcott.
so put that rule in and it will be solved
