I got the new 2007 design Sling Carrier as a shower gift.

It says newborn to 20lbs but my daughter is 7lbs and doesn't fit in it right. I think she's too small. I've tightened it all the way but she slides around too much and it seems too low on my body.

Did any of you have the same problem?
Did you return it or find a way to make it work?
Any suggestions on a better sling carrier?

I found my baby slid around like yours. And that it loosened up while she was in it. I was constantly adjusting it. I am researching slings now. I'm hoping to find something good.

The infantino slings are garbage, unfortunetly. Its GREAT that you want to wear your baby more. Can I suggest a site like the baby wearer? I'm sure you could figure out how to get there by adding a .com... I have two ring slings, a pouch, a mei tai, and a wrap, and let me tell you, its the BEST! Good luck!

I can't help with the Infantino, but babywearing moms often try several different types before finding what works best. Different ages and uses can require different slings as well.

I liked the Didymos best, overall. The Mei Tai looks interesting, though I haven't tried it.

Try http://peppermint.com/ for some good info.

I got one from a friend has a hammy down and it was a piece of garbage. I threw it away after trying it once. I have read that they are very bad for a baby's spine. None of the slings are good that you can buy in the store. If you want a good one invest in one from online. Good website http://www.mammasmilk.com/slings_catalog.php

Not that this is necessarily related to the problem you're having, but:

"Infantino Recalls Infant Sling Carriers Due to Fall Hazard"

I have a padded ring sling, and I had no luck using it with my daughter when she was very small -- I couldn't get the positioning right, period, and neither of us liked it at all.

Somewhere around three months, it became one of our favourite carriers, though.

If you do decide to return it, check out 'mei tai'-style carriers. I wish I'd had one of them from the start, and it still works well now (nearing four months).

I agree with the pp's. Speaking from experience, only being able to "wear" my baby in one posistion would drive me, much less my babe, crazy! I used a ring sling. My babes enjoyed being able to look around, carried forward, upwards, on the hip...etc. I strongly suggest returning it and checking out some pics at babywearer.com

I use ring slings, pouches and mei tai's and my personal favorite for a newborn was the pouch.

We have the Infantino front to back carrier and we love it. Its so much easier then having to drag the car seat and the stroller around. My son also loves it everytime we put him in it he falls asleep and stays asleep.
