i have a dell inspiron 1521 like the ones on the commercial that are colored and in one commercial theres a girl in a car in the middle of nowhere thats on the internet and i wanted to know if that can really happen

and how would i know if my computer has long range wireless

so my question is can the "long range wireless" really access the interenet on the road in a car

Only if there is a wifi hotspot in the middle of nowhere. It is possible, with a directional antenna (like a cantenna) at each end of the link, to get a couple of kilometres, but the ad was just using a bit of poetic licence.

wireless broadband uses and pc cards thats slides in an pcmcia or express slot. I think they have the same bandwith as 802.11g, I think what you refering to is the new 802.11n which is 10/100/1000 (gigabit) they have out now. I dont know if the range of wifi has increased, but what your talking about is wiresless broadband the ability to use the net anywhere (not wifi). Only near major cities too.
