Hi,
I'm doing an "Adopt A Tree" assignment, but the tree I chose to adopt is one that I can't identify!

Here is a picture of my tree:

And here is a closer picture of the kind of leaf that is on my tree:

Any help with this is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I'm doing an "Adopt A Tree" assignment, but the tree I chose to adopt is one that I can't identify! I'm in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I don't think this is a magnolia. Magnolias have very thick leaves with tan undersides. Most likely this is a trimmed up photinia. From your top picture it is difficult to see the leaf arrangement. If I could see a picture of a cluster of leaves, I could be more definitive. If I had a couple more guesses without seeing the leaf arrangement, I would suggest Southern Wax Myrtle or Cherry Laurel. I am pretty confident it is one of the three.

I agree, a magnolia most likely. I thought maybe a member of the Prunus family but the guy has his thumb in the spot to ID for prunus. So sticking with magnolia

It would help to know what part of the country it's in. Perhaps a magnolia, but dressed up like Christmas
