My parents were very careful to keep the secret and keep me away from situations where I could discover the truth. I questioned the identity on the guy in that red costume who came to our kindergarten plays... But my Mum convinced me that the real Santa was too busy preparing presents and couldn't afford to waste time going to every kindergarden in the world... So she told me that all the Santas I saw on TV were, just like the Santa from kindergarten, actors who impersonated the one real Santa...
I wanted to meet this one and real Santa, of course. But they alway sent me to pay visits to some friends on the evening of Christmas Eve... Each time I hurried home hoping that I'd finally have the chance to meet Santa in person.... But I was always late and would get the same answer: "Oh, sweety, Santa was really here! Look, he brought this gourgious Christmas tree and decorated it, and left gifts for all of us... But he has just left, unfortunately... You know, he is really busy tonight, there are a lot of nice children he has to go to... But maybe next year you'll meet him!"
Until one day when I was in the first grade (age 7) and still convinced that Santa really existed, a well-meaning classmate of mine chooses to enlighten us all and delivers the terrible news that Santa... was not real! Of course I didn't believe a word. That afternoon I came home really angry saying that a kid from school had told us what I labeled as "ribaldy"... :))
My poor Mum was prepared to explain things like the appearance of babies... Instead she had to talk to me about Santa... When she confessed that my classmate was right, I took it really badly. It was a terrible discovery and I cried the whole evening! :)) :(
But now I am convinced that SANTA IS REAL. I remember my Mum saying (on the same tragic night of my childhood) that every time you give someone a gift, you are a little like Santa. I've always trusted my Mum, she's always right, you know... So Santa does exist, he is that part of our heart that makes us love Christmas, that makes us want to spend time with our dear ones, and give them presents and be better persons... Some people call him "the Christmas spirit".
Merry Christmas to you all! :)

I can't remember how old I was, but I "snooped" in my parents' closet and saw the doll I had asked for. On Christmas morning, that doll was next to my stocking, having been brought by Santa. I knew it had been sitting in my parents' closet so I knew then that Mom and Dad were Santa.
Same way I found out about the Easter Bunny. My siblings and I were really bad about snooping. In later years, Mom got better at hiding our presents

It kinda happed gradually. Each year I got a little more skeptical. I kept pretending to believe in Santa for a long time because I was afraid I would stop getting presents. lol

When I was 4 my grandpa told me that santa was going to come down the chimney and steal my presents. I was so upset that my parents had to tell me that santa wasn't real, and that they were the ones who put presents under the tree XDD.
