My girlfriend and I want to move to San Diego next year. We really liked Cardiff by the Sea but need advice on what jobs and how much rent we need to pay. We are both Sales reps. I have got a Spots Pschycology degree and numerous coaching qualifications. Any of these questions answered would be most appreciated.

Cardiff is like most other beach towns in San Diego. Very expensive. Maybe take a look at Leucadia, Ocean Beach, or Oceanside. Average rent in any beach community will range from $1,500 for a small apartment to $6,000 for a house. We all have degrees here and there are far more coaches than coaching positions. Lots of people make lots of money here and it's still hard to get by.

It's a good idea to check out craigslist.com for San Diego to see rental rates for Cardiff. I think you'd be paying at least $1500 a month, likely more, for an apartment. Beware of renting near the train tracks though if you are a light sleeper, I think many of the less expensive places are near the tracks.

I know several people with sports marketing and sports psychology degrees and none of them found employment in that field. How much you earn as a sales rep will be entirely dependent in your ability to sell, so you could end up making very little or a lot.

You didn't mention your visa status. I'm assuming you already know that it's very difficult to qualify for a visa that allows you to work legally in the States. If you are not aware of that you may want to do a little research before coming here first.

Cardiff by the Sea is pretty pricey. You may find something more affordable to start if you look a little to the east side of county.

Plenty of sales rep jobs available all the time. check Monster.com. Also send a resume to the high schools and colleges in the area. They may be looking for a trainer. Google San Diego school districts.

You do need a visa, and to get a visa an employer has to offer you a job and claim that they cant find someone in the US with your capabilities. Its very difficult as you can imagine. Thats the major stumbleing block for people, outside of the US you cant just decide to move here.

GO ON CAREERBUILDER.COM TO LOOK AT THE JOB MARKET AND CRAIGSLIST.COM FOR APARTMENTS. YOU'D BETTER BRING AT LEAST
$5000.00 TO GET AN APARTMENT AND LIVE OFF OF UNTIL YOU GET WORK.
