Okay, he's devoured all my other helpless aquarium fish. I hate him, but I cannot watch him starve. What do I feed a crayfish? (Please don't say feeder fish.. I had no idea these things were carnivores!) =(

midjrsy - try answering with an actual ANSWER instead of a lecture I don't need. I purchased the crayfish upon the advice of the pet shop assistant to whom I SPECIFICALLY asked if it would harm my other fish.

Also, I moved him to his own tank (although sigh.. too late) so he now has his own pad - I don't have to worry about him getting along with anyone else.

Mia, a crayfish will live well on any fish food that sinks to the bottom. Shrimp pellets are perfect, and any sinking pellet will do the job. Much easier then messing around with raw meat and just as good.

I made the same mistake with the first and only crayfish I had.
The easiest food I found for mine was to go to the grocery store and buy the cheapest raw fish sold by the pound, buy one pound, keep out what it would eat in 3 or 4 days, and then freeze the rest..After I figured out what it would eat in a few days,I would cut up and freeze these portions into smaller bags.(just a hint)
I also had to buy a separate tank for mine, and new fish for the first tank! The one I had lived for 3 years.

Sorry, but all they eat are fish and shrimp. When I had one, I would get minnows & ghost shrimp from the bayou.
If you don't want to feed fish to the crayfish, then see if you can find someone who has a set up for a crayfish, for then you can re-home him and restart your fish aquarium.

I am wondering why you even got a crayfish. I guess you didn't do any research about crayfish before you got it. Word of advice: ALWAYS check out how to care for an animal, fish, etc., before you buy one! You can check here on the WWW, or ask at a pet shop about almost any sort of pet.
Evidently, crayfish eat aquarium fish, since that one has eaten your other fish.

They will pretty much eat anything they can catch, and if it's not moving, all the better! They are naturally opportunistic, so small fish aren't out of the question as a food source (unfortunately). To feed him now, you can use pretty much anything... Vegetables, fish food, frozen food (bloodworms, brineshrimp), and frozen seafood from your grocery store (prawn, shrimp, muscle, oyster; be sure to boil it first to prevent any diseases from entering your tank and getting you, or your crayfish sick). Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

That I will die while my children are still young and leave them without a mother. I don't want my three eldest kids raised by my ex-husband and his woman (and I use that term very loosely). This scares the crap out of me more than anything else in the world. Next on the list would be something happening to one of my kids or my man. Next on the list would be to be burned alive or to drown - which would be awful deaths. Next on the list would be the world running out of chocolate..... aaaaagggghhhhh!!!!!! :o)

there are commercial foods on the market. if you really h8 him, a puffer (only if your tank is large enough) would make short work of him, and are personable to boot. however, they will also attack other fish (at least the ones large enough to eat a crawfish will) so keep them alone.
