My pick for the coolest "end of the world" is when the Andromeda galaxy collides with the Milky Way galaxy, which will happen in roughly 3 billion years (before our sun turns into a red giant). Galaxies are mostly empty space so there will actually be very few stellar collisions, however a star passing close to our solar system could fling Earth right out of its orbit from the gravitational effects. As we plunge into deep space we'll all slowly freeze to death -- that is, if there are any humans still around in 3 billion years.

"Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice
From what I've tasted of desire, I hold with those who favor fire."
