I've only read "The Name of the Rose" and "Foucault's Pendulum", both of which I enjoyed. "The Name of the Rose" was a little more straightforward. In "Foucault's Pendulum" I got sidetracked at first by the elaborate conspiracy theory, which is really irrelevant to the story.

Of course you may start with his "The Name of the Rose", then some short pieces and, I think, his "Baudolino" is also readable taking his readers back to the Middle Ages like the first one.

He wrote "The Name of the Rose" or something like that? I didn't mind that one.
