I pick up the big stuff so my housekeeper can focus on the details. My thinking is this, she is going to give a set amount of effort and time per visit. The more I pick up before she arrives, the better the house looks when she is done. If there isn't much to do, she seems to find something, like arrange the pantry or clean the fridge. She rocks!

On a side note, hiring someone to help has been a real blessing to my marriage. I will gladly drive a Saturn over a Lexus (or whatever) to help afford this luxury : )

Most people clean their house before the housekeeper comes in because they know that on a regular basis it's normally messy...Therefore, they call the housekeeper AFTER they clean up. It's kind of like paying the housekeeper to be an inspector...If the housekeeper can't find anything to clean up, then the place is clean.

Not clean up in the sense that I would really clean. Just pick up some loose stuff like things or toys lying in and around the house which aren't supposed to be on the floor.

If the 'poor' woman did that for me I'd be delighted. I would go for the deep cleaning stuff like washing windows, cleaning air vents, and shining the fixtures with toothbrush precision just to have such a house to clean. lol The pig styes were the ones I got hired to clean.

My wife would do something like that. She's very much concerned with what people think of her, and couldn't stand if the housekeeper thought she was not a clean perosn.

yeah, my mom likes to pre-clean too. sometimes she does it so the housekeeper can tend to little odds and ends instead of general cleaning, but alot of the time i think it's the same as your lady... just doesn't want to look like a slob..

Well most people do that because the house keeper cleans aq bunch of houses and they want to help so they dont have to clean alot.

Think about it would you want to clean a nasty house?

Take the money doll. She may have really just wanted the company and Santa's spirit can take many forms. Think of the kids and what your time will do for them.

I don't know.I guess they don't want the housekeeper thinking they're nasty or something. I wish I could afford a housekeeper. I'm the housekeeper around here. lol

LOL I used to do that too. I didn't want anyone to think I lived like a pig. I got over it though :)
